CNN and Dangote Group Sign Multiyear Deal to Launch Africa Inc. and Global Media Campaign
Media giant CNN International Commercial and West African industrial powerhouse Dangote Industries Limited have finalised a multiyear global partnership intended to highlight the expanding footprint of African enterprise in the international market.
According to a press release issued by CNN, the collaboration centers on the sponsorship of Africa Inc., a new half-hour television show hosted by broadcast journalist Adefemi Akinsanya. Set to premiere on CNN International on August 29th, the series will explore how companies across the continent are building global operations in manufacturing, technology, hospitality, and entertainment.
Rather than positioning African businesses as emerging market participants, the programming seeks to frame the continent as an established driver of global commerce and innovation. Following its August debut, four additional half-hour episodes will air through 2026 and 2027, complemented by bi-monthly short features across CNN International and dedicated digital content on CNN.com.
The agreement includes an integrated branded content series titled Africa First, produced by CNNIC’s internal creative studio, Create. Through short films, data-led articles, and digital assets, the series will examine economic transformation and energy self-reliance across the region, using Dangote’s industrial activities as a key case study. This content will air across CNN International, CNN US, CNN Arabic, and CNN Business platforms.

Beyond broadcast and digital coverage, Dangote Industries will serve as a sponsor for three upcoming editions of CNN’s Global Perspectives event franchise over the next twelve months.
Speaking on the agreement, Cathy Ibal, Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales at CNNIC, stated that the initiative aims to connect stories of African self-reliance, leadership, and industrial innovation with CNN’s global audience.
Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer at Dangote Industries, added that the partnership supports the group’s Vision 2030 strategy, serving as a global platform to demonstrate its industrial footprint and commitment to an “Africa First” economic framework.
The Africa First branded campaign begins airing this week, preceding the formal broadcast debut of Africa Inc. on August 29th.
